Re: Has anyone printed on to nylon?

A local market trader has some really cheap white nylon guitar straps which I noticed yesterday on his stall.

I'm going to buy some next week to test if I can sublimate onto them.

I've done a bit of googling and it seems it can be possible to sublimate onto nylon but it depends on what type of nylon and then there are mixed results with some people saying it's faded print while others say the print is better than polyester.

anyone on the forum had experience of sublimating onto nylon straps of any kind?

Never tried it, but since nylon is a polymer, then I'd say there's a pretty good chance of it working the same as polyester. I don't know at what temperature it melts though. I'd make sure you try it out between a couple of Teflon sheets first.

From what I've read around the melting point of most nylon begins at around 220-260

As I tend to sublimate everything at 180 I'll try and start at that.

Hopefully it will not smell as badly as mouse mats :)

The guy is selling plain white guitar straps in the market for £4.50 so it's worth a punt to print and sell on amazon.

Give Paul a shout (a member on here), not sure but I think he was selling them cheaper.

I will see if I can dig out my supplier from years ago. They were about £2.00!
