Laser Printer for dark garments
Re: Laser Printer for dark garments
I have an order for an image on black hoodies. I currently only have sublimation Printer and Vinyl cutter. I was looking at wow paper with an OKI. Would this combination be the best option? If yes what OKI is suitable? I have an Adkins press.
Thanks
Thanks

I have the Oki white A4, the 711WT. Very good, does the job , but it is expensive.
If your image is a square or can be cut with sissors I would suggest printing onto subliflock and cutting the image out. If you have many more orders then go for the Oki , but if you only have a few then Id suggest you try the flock.

Thanks Earl Smith. How is the flock for lasting frequent washes?
i am looking at the 711WT but it is a large outlay.

The flock is good as long as you print it at the right temperature. I learnt this early on when I printed the flock at a too low a temp and it washed out. Luckily the customer was a friend and she brought it back and I made her a new one.
The flock can be washed at 40c with no colour loss for about 10 washes. After that it will fade a little. But that is the same as the Oki.
If you want my opinion about the Oki. ?? Only buy it if you have constant orders that need the wow or equivelent papers. TMT and Forever now have a print system where you only need a B&W printer. I find Im using my Oki more and more for this work.

This is the Forever link and you will find videos on Youtube about this. TMT do something similar.
Hope this helps.

Re: Laser Printer for dark garments
how are people actually finding the Oki WHITE printer now they have been out for a few years. ive had mine nearly 2 years now and at the beginning i hardly used it. in the last few months im using it with WOW more and more and actually find it very good. im still skeptical about papers for white tshirts and im using wow for both blacks and whites.
but now my toners are starting to get low and i looked at the prices my heart skipped a beat, about £1000 to replace the toners, not sure if thats will mean my printer will become redundant especially if i dont start saving soon.

Re: Laser Printer for dark garments
Would Jet-Opaque II, or 3g Jet-Opaque (available from Yolo) not work for you, especially since it can be printed with sublimation inks and cut with scissors or a contour cutter? I've used it on coloured gym bags and tote bags. I'm not sure how many washes it will survive before fading though.
