Etsy Store
Re: Etsy Store
Another one for Etsy. Far more sales there than on Ebay.

Re: Etsy Store
Seems to be getting a lot of really positive reviews, I don't mind the hard work, I'm all about that. My issue for the next month or 2 is that with work I could be away for upto 7 days at a time, which would be a real inconvenience for buyers if they have to wait that long for their products. I think I may build up a small portfolio of 10-15 items and when I'm home every day I will proceed with the etsy shop. Many thanks for all your reviews guys, that's what I think is great about this forum is that everyone is so helpful.
Re: Etsy Store
You can put your store on holiday mode so people can't view it, but you could just adjust your dispatch time and the announcement purchasers get could say we are away until... so our dispatch times reflect this. Most pro sellers do not use holiday mode but it is there

Re: Etsy Store
Tricky situation that is i think, holiday mode, I'd hate not to be visible therefore missing potential sales, but personally if I buy something online I'd expect it to be delivered in the next couple of days, not possibly 1 week.
Re: Etsy Store
Ah but etsy are a different crowd. They buy from there because they want quality, hand crafted and created stuff. My wife sells customised goods with names added to set designs or sometimes she creates something completely new for people.

Re: Etsy Store
I see what you mean, that's a great way to look at it. Having never really experienced Etsy before, it's a huge eye opener really. I'd like to think the products I make are good quality, the feedback I get suggests they are and unless I'm perfectly happy with the product, it won't be sold. I get time to design whilst I'm working away just no access to my presses. I think that may just be the best option for me then!
Re: Etsy Store
Some times a weeks worth of conversation goes on before an order is placed. My wife creates a listing specifically for a custom design then sends a link to it in the conversation.

Re: Etsy Store
I've had an etsy shop for 2 years and sold 6 items and that's including using both promoted listings and google shopping option. It's cheap to list but that's because for us the traffic just is not there. Not really worth spending time on it. I get substantially better results with amazon handmade.
Might cost a little bit more but it's where the traffic and paying customers are.

Re: Etsy Store
Etsy is not eBay. I'm seeing new sellers coming onto the platform and replicating their eBay sales model....sell cheap and a race to the bottom...some sellers don't like profit.
Etsy is about quality; customers want items gift packaged with personalised notes. You'll need good product photography if you want Etsy to promote your store. Etsy is eBay 15 years ago, relaxed customers without the strictly enforced metrics and rules. A quick check on the Etsy forum and you'll see endless threads about sales vanishing with huge losses of income. Product images being stolen and finding their way onto Ali express and not being found on search. I wouldn't rely on any sales platform....build your own site and promote, promote, promote.
