Hi all,

I bought quite a 'big roll' of Silver and Gold Vinyl from MDP as I had a possible 'large' order of stuff that needed it.

In the intrim period I have done a couple of hoodies and t-shirts with logos and text in gold and silver on them. The pressing and cutting (evetually) went well and the garments looked very nice after pressed. But, someone fetched one to me yesterday that had been washed and some of the silver has started to flake off!

Nowm I was tested all the vinyl including the silver and gold to make sure it didn't come off and no problems. So, I was thinking that maybe the 'kid' had bashed his hoodie around and caused the scraping of the vinyl which is chrome and would of course come off in the wash.

Has anyone had any experience with this?

The vinyl I had is at MDP on: http://www.mdpsupplies.co.uk/coolflexex ... ex%20Extra

Look for Silver Chrome CF & Gold Chrome CF.

Note: I am not blaming MDP for a bad product, just curious :-)

Never used this but had a look at the website and theres no washing instructions - check with the company as it may be a case of being washed, or tumble dried, at too high a temp.

Cheers John

Thanks John,

there is washing instructions on the page which say safe wash at 60°C. I print out little slips to add into the packaging of garments telling people it's best not to wash over 40°C and the person said that they did just that.

It also says it can be tumble dried, and I tested it and it came out ok ................. it leaves me to think that perhaps the t-shirt had a 'battering' and like anything with a 'mirrored' finish there is a limit to certain things!

Can it be ironed over - could be that the guy caught it with the iron.

don't think so - if it'd been ironed then I don't think much to their ability to iron! :-)

It looked to me that it had been taken straight off a clothes horse after being washed.

ive had a tshirt in this stuff from safe company and i found that it creases relly easy and kinks the vinyl...that could quite easily cause it to flake off i guess...

We had problems with the 'Chrome' silver & gold. The 'metallic' gold & silver wash well!

I use MDP for all my vinyl (Glitter, chrome, hotflex, cool flex all of them for the craft robo etc) I have no problems to date with the chrome, gold, silver etc. I have done a lot using the gold and silver chrome for a dance co and to date not had anyone come back to me on it. When delivering items to people i still advice them wash on cool wash, do not tumble dry and do not iron on vinyl etc. so i think it may be the families fault not your own or MDP. I would look into this more if i was you.

many thanks
