Also worth noting for Dalbag123 is that if he wishes to use a white toner for printing colour onto dark fabrics, SunAngel 2 printer system does NOT line up properly. You can even feed paper back into the same machine and it still doesn't go through the same way as it did on the first pass! Yes it was cheaper, using white on its own works, but as a two stage white/colour process it was not a good purchase, despite the claims made by SunAngel.

Yes, it seems for online reviews, a lot,of people just lost interest in the machine. I think for the time being I am going to get either a screen printer to do the work or buy screen printed transfers.

Justin your 100% right, u can't be a master of all trades. I just need to make some good and reliable contacts

logo bear , I brought my Adkins swing from magic touch and was seriously impressed with the oki printer but it's just way to much money vs the orders I'm currently getting

I dont know what stage you are at with your business, but I believe that sometimes taking a bigger step than the majority of your competitors would can give you an edge. What can seem like a lot of money is relatively "small potatoes" once you have a machine producing profitable work that your competition cant do.

The A4 oki with white toner is £1900 ish, the A3 9 series oki machine is over £9,000!, personally I would rather try and find work for the £9,000 machine than the £1900 because I know I wont have as many decorators to compete against, so there should be a healthier margin.

You cant do the job without the tools, and the better the tools the more chance you have of being able to make it pay.

By the way, I am not advocating that you go out and buy the machine, its just my personal point of view.

The business is very much still at the starting line. I did originally look to buy the oki a4 printer but though it's better to start smaller. The real issue I face is in which direction to take the business and I just find myself trying to do everything. If a customer asks for 30 tshirts printed. I can happy do them but then I also look to do embroidery which is big outlay as well. I just keep getting enquires about printing on dark mugs, dark tshirts etc and feel oki wt is the only way to go now. i 100% understand your point of having a USP and staying ahead but these days it seems like people work margins to the bone. Had an enquiry for 10 embroidered polls. Gave my price and the guy laughed and said I just paid 5.50 for pools with left chest and right chest names. I'm puzzled on how they can work to this price

There will always be someone cheaper. Don't sweat it. :)
There comes a point where you would get paid more working in McDonald's of you keep trying to match them. Don't bother

we have the oki a4 .... and SOMETIMES ... feel limited by area of print - only rarealy actually.
.... it can do 220mm x 420mmm (called A4XL) so longer than a3 ... but not as wide.
the biggest work factor is the 2 part paper process...
it takes a good minute to actually prepare your thermal tshirt stickers ...
if you can do an A4 XL ... or better still ... an A3 in that minute....
then you have a lot of stuff to actually print garments with.
The actual press is only 5 seconds ... with a final final FINAL press of 10 to 20 seconds.

it is a REALLY drawn out process .... but probably A LOT easier and simpler .... and working on more fabric types etc etc etc, ..... than DTG

The A4 is a magic machine ..... but 9k is shed loads of $£$£$
imho - just get the proven A4 machine - and definitely from The Magic Touch ....
coz they give you their magic software ....
which makes managing NO BLACK ...
with a white under (or over ?) base really easy.

imho

cyprian, I certainly can't match them at 5.50. That literally is working to the bone. Hopefully business will come.

Logo bear, how do you find the oki not having a true black, I mean in you opinion, do you think the average customer would really be able to tell? Also how long do the toners last because at £200 a toner, it's expensive.

Dtg just a whole different world to me yet.

the oki visually is fine without true black .... but black on priunts is very thick - almost crusty ..... AND - prone to cracking as it cools - so you have to use it fast - or keep it on top of a hot heat press.
Unable to advise cost per page - toners etc last for ages, - but we don't use it that much.
Pleased we have it, but it is not the most profitable machine in the shop by a long way ... it just fills in the gaps - means we can say yes to much more jobs.... the wow print is often only a small part of a big project.
We charge a £2.50 to £3.50 per sheet premium for wow and feel fully justified doing so.
