Vinyl peeling on polyester sports top

Hey,

I pressed some hotflex vinyl onto a polyester sports top for my son. I was unsure how to press vinyl onto this style of clothing so I just followed the normal instructions for it. I've washed the top today and now some of the vinyl is peeling off.

I'm going to re press the vinyl again but as anyone got any advice on the cause of this or pressing instructions for this type of clothing?

It may be a daft question but have you checked the vinyl is the correct one for polyester as it may be that yours was meant for a different fabric? Was the sports top brand new or had it been washed prior to pressing leaving residue of detergents/conditioners? Failing that another possibility is that you washed it too soon after pressing (I know my vinyl of choice says don't wash for 24 hours). Other than that, the only other factors I can think of are time, temperature and pressure relative to the vinyl used.
