Hi

The place I work are getting rid of a Brother MFC-J6510DW printer which prints A4 & A3.

If I flushed it and filled it with Sublimation Inks would it work or would it clog up, It would only be used rarely.

It would work with a custom profile. Used Brother in the past, like Epsons it will clog if not used regularly.

My MFC-J6510DW for Dye Sub is sitting with a clog in the black print head at the moment. The joys of using cheap inks I suppose. However, it has performed flawlessly for the greater part of 4 years and often sits unused for weeks at a time when I am away. Most recently I was in hospital for 5 weeks, and when I came back there were some nozzles clogged. After a few cleans it is now down to only one black nozzle clogged.

As Paul pointed out, the Brothers do an auto clean from time to time. But I would suggest using high quality Epson compatible inks rather than cheap ebay inks. I have had the 6510DW that I use for heat transfers die on me after using cheap pigment inks through it and leaving it idle. I replaced it with a 6520DW and I now only use dye inks for heat transfers. I'm having no fade problems with the latest dye ink.

But the old 6510DW is still working great on Dye Sublimation and I will stick to Brother for my next Dye Sub printer.
