Help me not throw this cap press out a high window.

Bought it from ebay, I couldn't justify a huge outlay for a cap press so got a chinese one, now the shape of the platten and base are both way off any blank baseball or snapback caps I've pressed.

It took me nearly 200 caps to do a 100 order.

I'm close to launching this POS. Anyone recommend some DIY workarounds or modifications? I assume someone has been in this position before.

I tried my cap press once. That was it. Never again. Same chinese toss. Was part of a 5 in 1 i bought for the flat press and latte wrap.

What was wasted on caps would have gone toward a better one so take it as experience and look to replace it. I have an Adkins beta cap press and that works well. Ylu can find them secondhand where prices aren't so bad or buy new.

Know the problem too. The platten is the wrong shape and mine was not a cheap chinese one either.
Got around the problem by laying a folded up t-shirt on the platten , making sure it was fatter in the middle so it raised the middle of the cap up and makes the platten the same shape as the cap. Now it works most times until another shaped cap comes along, usually a Rapper Cap, and the t-shirt has to be "re-moulded".

I had a cheap cap press, which gave me a few problems to get the cap to print at the right place I used tailors chalk to mark the middle and used bulldog paper clips the strong one to hold the cap in place. Not sure if that helps you

Reading the above posts, I think I would steer clear of printing caps! :biggrin:

When you are in business and taking on large orders you really need to have methods and machinery in place which is 100% reliable.

Once I discovered its quirk doing hats became easy. Even with the best equipment you still have a learning curve, It just take a bit longer with the cheaper presses

I'm glad you found a work-around jennywren. To scrap nearly 100 caps on an order, as stated by the OP, would certainly put me off for life!
