Re: Looking for a dabble

Hi Guys

So one of my Ricoh's is pretty much on its last legs. This is the one that has all sorts thrown at it and bangs out a few hundred prints every other day. It has been a bloomin good printer considering the abuse it has had but now I feel its time to have a bit of a dabble on the "dark side"

I mean Epson ;-)

So fancy having a play with either of these machines

A3 Epson Workforce 7110
A3 Epson 1500W

I am going to get them from City Inks Express as some on here have said that the ink is pretty good. As this machine is to replace one that only prints black I am not that bothered how good it is, but I would obviously like to get something that does print decent colour if it can. Who know's I may even switch from Sawgrass if it's that good!

So what of the above printers would you recommend?

Whichever one you choose, I would recommend Inktec Sublinova Smart with Epsons...professional, consistent and cheap.

I got my 1500w from City and they even sent me the ICC for it as well, didn't need it because I had already worked one of my own out, but they could not have been more helpful. I punish my 1500, and it is still going strong. Oh if you decide to go down the route of using a CISS, let me know and I will tell you how to do it without removing the cartridge holder top.

I have had many 1500's as it suits us better than the large format for many jobs. It seems most don't last more than a year but we have a few running 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. Thought they were becoming obsolete. Very good prints on the full colour and photos. I use Inktec as well.

I'm hearing lots of issues with City Ink at the moment I'm afraid. I believe inks were recently changed and are no longer as good as they were.

City Ink used to be Inktec Justin, no idea what they have now.

Definitely not going with them now anyway. Needed some cheap crappy ink for my hi vis vest Ricoh printer (the one that has been known to use recycled ink from the waste toner before!). Ordered from there on a next day delivery, it arrived three days later, two of the bottles were not sealed and subsequently one of them leaked. Thankfully not a great deal, but enough to say bye bye.
