I've been asked by a mate who has a band (the weird requests I get...) - to look into sourcing a band backdrop for his band when they are playing gigs. Does anyone have any experience of doing such a thing. Its not a pop up thing, its a big bit of material (from looking about polyester or some such) but has to have fire certificates and such like.
Does anyone do (or knows anyone) who would do such a thing?
Ta very much!

Re: Looking for info on band backdrops?
there are a lot of ways to produce. - paint, stencil, wide format etc - we have done them all ....
the fire certificate thing is really important - gig venues will insist on it!

insist on it or offer to take a lighter to it outside to check it is actually flame proofed if you say it is but can't prove it with labelling/certificate!

Aye I've heard the flame proof certificate is VITAL... I'm looking for a 2.5m tall x 3m wide backdrop - black with a white logo. Any ideas on price and whom?

Re: Looking for info on band backdrops?
If I was to "tackle" this, I would look at something like a printable flag material for my Versacamm. I would run the art in strips and then take it to a local seamstress to put together (you may want to talk to them first). I would also consider adding small weights to the bottom of the item so the whole thing will hang nicely.
Obviously the wider the printer the fewer number of strips needed to complete the width.
Lastly, depending on what they would hang it from would depend on if you need to eyelet or some sort of tubing etc..
P.S. I am not offering to do this as I do not have the time available, I am just suggesting a possible solution

Seem at bottom, with a chain sewn inside the whole width, as weighting.
At top every half foot along sew in ties - quite long, long enough to easily tie around a scaffolding pole.
