We are also considering changing to BMS. I visited Xpres last Tuesday and took some samples of the unisub issues, both dust and the heat tape issue. I got the same response as UK Printed Mugs. They are in talks with unisub.
We also had the Xpres rep visit on Thursday and we demonstrated the issues to him and he will add all this evidence to their case.
I'm lucky as I only live 10 minutes away from Xpres.
We are ordering some samples from BMS on Monday.

UPDATE - Just in from Xpres although not great news:
"[FONT=&quot]A member of our R&D team actually had a meeting with the supplier about this today, after not really making inroads during previous attempts. Apparently the backing has been changed to allow for the improved adhesion of the coating during manufacturing. For this reason, the supplier wishes to keep the coasters as they are.[/FONT]

[FONT=&quot]There have been complaints from other UK resellers so it is something I believe they will have to look at eventually. Unfortunately this does not help in the short term, during which these circumstances remain out of our control."

So basically they did make a change.

For now we shall therefore will stick with the BMS new line of coasters and placemats.[/FONT]

That is not good. Haven't heard my lot complain yet as we use their coasters. I do have an alternative I have been looking into anyway.

Has anyone find a better way to tape down the dodgy Unisub coasters? Due to BMS running out of stock this week of their coasters whose backing doesn't come off on tape then we are having to resort back to Unisub. If anyone has found any particular tape or ways to tape down the coasters then would be interested before we get numerous more complaints from customers.

If you remove the tape within 60 seconds then you shouldn't get too much of a tear, I peel the tape from the outside of the coaster whilst holding onto the paper. Its better to create a leverage with your hand rather than just ripping off clean. Of you leave for more than a minute you'll struggle to keep the full coaster intact.

I'm currently using blue heat tape from Subliblanks.

Ok, we shall put our heat proof gloves on and try to remove 12 coasters real quick. We haven't got any of the blue tape so may order some to see if that makes a difference as well.

How are you getting on? The new Unisub backing is garbage! I am going through 800 odd coasters a week and struggling not to make a mess on the backing.

Not well. Due to BMS being out of stock of their recently imported 90mm alternatives we had no choice but to go back to a Unisub. Even with hot peeling it is still very very bad. Please inform your supplier as it is only through pressure will the manufacturer change.

Have you tried the ones labelled as Orca yet? Similar to hardback unisub and print well.
