Re: Trying to avoid backing paper on big calender press

Post by perigonza »

Hi all!

My first post here, hope to find some interest. In our daily work we use a calender press 2m wide for continous printing. We of course have issues with it but over the years we have managed to tame the beast and we make it work like a charm these days.

The one thing I hate and I'm looking for a solution is the backing paper. It is a constant source of inconvenience and, most than anything else, an ecological crime in my mind and a waste of money. I am looking, have been for years, for a way to substitute this backing paper with a reusable solution. Any ideas from you are more than welcome. We have looked for teflon sheet in full rolls so we can, perhaps, use it and then clean it to be used again and again. No success. We have looked into high temp silicone ... no success ...

I have no idea as to where to look or if it is even possible. Has anybody think about that problem? Is there a standard solution I don't know (as we are self-taught and have never had any training at all other than pure experience...)?

Thanks for your attention, I hope you can give us a hint!

We found using paper caused more problems than it solved, so don't use it anymore.

That would be a fantastic solution but...then how you avoid the double image? Without the backing paper the carpet get dirt and produces copies double or triple copies ?

Thanks for the answer BTW!
