Sublimation to Glass

i really want to sublimate to glass just small designs on wine glasses, tumblers etc.

i had a look into it and found out you can by some spray to make the surface take in the ink but im not sure on the process ive seen a few different things mentions and have a few questions such as

- do i need to bank to cure?
- do i spray the whole surface of the glass or exactly where i want to sublimate to?
- does it have to be perfectly flat smooth finish?
-will the work in a 3d heat press?

I'm a glass etcher myself and I embroider the designs on gift bags I make for the glasses. What I'm after is a way of putting a coloured design on the glass without first deep etching then colour filling.
Will buy the polymer coating and practise.

I'm not sure if this is still available but some years ago a friend gave me a spray can of coloured acid etch it was made by Humbrol,he had blue and pink but other colours were available,I tried the blue on a mirror it came out alright but it is not washable and also needs to be kept out of sunlight.

Take a look at digicoat. You will get a certain level of success but as dye sublimation ink is rather opaque then it is hard to get any depth of colour without the white backing. There are sprays for that as well to look into.
