Hi everyone,
My first post here on the forum and I have a, probably silly, question about the jigs/molds you need for 3D phone case sublimation.
It seems the iPhone 6 and 7 are exactly the same size (same as 6+ and 7+) so will either one of them be okay for both generations?
Also so do you have any recommendations for the best place to buy them from. The only place I could find using google was eBay really.
Thanks for your help,
Ben
Phone jigs/molds question
Re: Phone jigs/molds question
Hello, I don't think they are exactly the same jigs. Otherwise why would suppliers provide for both models ? As far as I'm concerned I never tried to make a i7 case with an i6 jig so I can't tell.
Re: Phone jigs/molds question
That's what I thought, but what got me wondering was the fact that I saw some jigs on ebay.com and alibaba that did state iPhone6/iPhone7.
Re: Phone jigs/molds question
Hi I have both jigs ..they are slightly different. .but I've printed ip7 covers on ip6 jig and got no complaints done quite a bit as I only had one jig for ip7 at the time so u can use ip6 for ip7 ..but ip7 + is quite bit different to ip6 + and my 1st attempt was not successful so never tried again .
Re: Phone jigs/molds question
There's a very small difference in thickness between iPhone 6 and iPhone 7 so the jigs from suppliers probably reflect that.
As commented above we use the iP6 for iP7 without issue (same with the Plus models), however the camera hole is both larger and in a different position on the 7 models so you have to be careful about not getting dye on the jig if you share the jigs.
Of course the size difference may be more prominent for some case suppliers compared to others.
