The basics
Re: The basics
Hi
I need advice please and it looks like the members of this forum can provide that:)
I have been looking at the Epson 1400 to use as a sublimation printer. Will the inks for this be capabale of printing mugs and T shirts or can this only be used for mugs?
I am completely confused on this issue and would greatly appreciate your advice:)
Thanks in advance
Steve

Re: The basics
To print mugs you need to use dye sublimation ink. For polyester t'shirts, same ink - for cotton you'll need a completely different system.
Re: The basics
Thank you SO much for the fast reply-you have shed some light on my confusion now:)
Will probably go down that avenue at first before spending more out:)

Re: The basics
1400 is a great printer to be starting out with. Not the cheapest option but as we always say on here it's better to start off with decent equipment. The Ricoh printers are a good buy as well, probably an easier set-up option but I personally prefer the 1400 with a CIS.
Re: The basics
Again thanks alot! One really newbie question..whats is CIS? -)
Amazon seems the best price for these printers but that would probably come with the ordinary ink. Can i get sub cartridges for this printer or do I have to buy the bulk inking system ?
Thanks again

Re: The basics
Sorry, the CIS is the bulk ink system. This is your best bet but again bit of an investment (that will pay off of course!) You can get subli carts or refil carts but this will work out as expensive, you pretty much get the main CIS unit for nothing when you buy the inks.
Do you need the A3 printer? There are very few items that need such a big print, t-shirts/large place mats are a couple but you'll find 95% of the time A4 will be more than enough, mugs, coasters and so on. There are a couple of cheaper options if you go down the A4 route. The 1400 is a 6 colour system which gives better images than a 4 but at a cost.

This is the epson I am thinking of. I know it is A3 but it seems a not bad price and it will also print A4 . Can the CIS fit this as it does with the A4 printers, do you know?
Sorry for all the questions but I want to make sure before I buy:) I do appreciate your advice.

Re: The basics
Great printer, great price. You can get the bulk system for this yes, fits in same way as it would an A4 printer.
