Re: Several issues Ricoh 3110DN
Further to my above post, it is possible for there to be stray pixels inside the selected area even if it fits snugly.
What I usually do is use the Polygonal Lasso tool to draw a quick selection fairly close to the image (but it doesn't need to be time-consuming and exact). I then press Shift+Ctrl+I to invert the selection, then pressing Delete will erase everything outside the Lassoed selection.
Sometimes it's very hard to see the stray pixels on the printout yet they still appear when sublimated. I check all new prints I've just designed with a 40x jeweller's loupe (magnifier) on the first printout. Saves wasting mugs!

Ah ok, the image I used was transparent and the specs seem to be on the image shadow, how would I clean up that area without erasing the image or does the work the same?
Re: Several issues Ricoh 3110DN
Ok thanks will have a look again at the image and see if I can spot anything on there

This is a problem with copied images.Phoenix;117916 wrote:Ah ok, the image I used was transparent and the specs seem to be on the image shadow, how would I clean up that area without erasing the image or does the work the same?
One way round it is to mask off the image (NOT including the drop shadow) and add a drop shadow of your own in Photoshop.
If you don't like Photoshops drop shadow, place a blank layer UNDER the image layer and draw in your own shadow roughly with a brush. Soften the shadow with the Gaussian Blur effect. This is the method I use most often as it gives much better control over the shadow. Also, you can use the Layer's opacity slider to alter the opacity of the shadow to get it looking authentic.

Ok, gonna have a small play about and see if I can improve it any, thanks will keep you updated.
Re: Several issues Ricoh 3110DN
So I took the shadow out of the SoConnect image and printed and pressed and no specs, so the shadowing from original image is the problem and its the very edge of the shadow, but the weird thing is when I looked at other mugs I pressed, the specs where not all in the same location as the ones pictured, they were still on the very bottom of the shadow around the edge, just in different locations
Re: Several issues Ricoh 3110DN
So done another mug and more specs have appeared and a little bit of bleed from the text, all background data was erased for the image, mug was clean, heating element was cleaned and they still appear, any other ideas before changing paper and inks?

Re: Several issues Ricoh 3110DN
So Little updatePrinter was sent back to CityInk and they tested it and said it was printing fine and sublimated metal sheets and sent them back with the printer to show me, they looked fine, but when I printed another image after a few head cleans and nozzle checks and all that, still getting faint lines in the ink/image, they reckon it could be a setting error on my computer somewhere, but I sent them pics of all my settings the first time and they said they were fine, so what else could it be? other than it looking like crap ink and paper.
