Not for sale from us but a BARGAIN if you have a SG800 and want a full ink set for about HALF PRICE - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RICOH-Sawgras ... Sw-0xYPJG3

That's a good bargain to anyone using Sawgrass inks I suppose, but the price of these inks is ASTRONOMICAL in my opinion.

From what I gather, a set of these cartridges costs the thick end of £300. What you get is 3 x 29ml and 1 x 42ml = 129ml of ink. That's £2.32 per ml.

The CIE inks I use, which produce perfectly satisfactory prints, are £15 per 100ml bottle. That works out at £0.15 per ml.

Anyone notice a slight difference there?

I don't think Sawgrass inks are THAT good to warrant the enormous difference in price.

We have moved over to the Virtuoso inks with the A3 printer.

The standard capacity cartridges that you reference above are £175 +VAT, so nearer £200 than £300 - still way more expensive than your CIE inks, but there's also the different coverage of the inks to take into account.

I have no idea as to the relative coverage per ml of each ink, but in general our ink cost per print is not a major factor, though I recognise of course that a pound unspent is a pound saved :-).

Except the ink expires between December of this year and January of next.

So only really suited to bulk users or those who do not mind using expired ink.

We run two secondary printers on expired inks for cheaper items we sell and found no difference whatsoever compared to our printers running non-expired inks. Even with ink 12 months old or more. Thus we are starting to use more expired inks from now on.

Much the same as 'Best Before' dates on food. It's all a scam!

This photo (posted recenty on here in another thread) shows the problems that we had with our Ricoh with ink around 16 months out of date. We assume that the fault lies with the ink, though that's not definite, as the printer is still sitting (neglected) on a table in the shop...

The other mug was subsequenty printed/pressed on a virtuoso printer, and to my eyes matches what the 3110 used to do...

The 3110 was still used on the same settings as previously when it started producing poor colours, nozzle checks were perfect, so can't think it's anything but the ink. Appears that the magenta has lost its potency.

Not chipped anyway. We use a lot of inks that are expired and perfect results.
