Re: House name plates blanks

Post by pablo6250 »

Hi guys while out and about I noticed a lot of houses with name and number plates on the walls, these were made of a aluminium Backing plate with a perspex front peice that screws to the wall
now I could do these with great ease, but does anyone know where I could get the blanks from, all i have seen is people selling them with the house names and numbers on

any help would be great guys thanks I have tried youtube, google and even ebay but knowone seems to be selling the blanks ready for printing etc

China is the only place to get them in bulk at an affordable price. If you are looking to get them in small numbers - its going to increase the price quite significantly.

Do you mean the ones with a brushed aluminium plate and an acrylic (or glass) plate mounted on stand-offs above the aluminium plate?

The one's I have seen have all been vinyl names/numbers on the back of the acrylic. I doubt whether anything dye-subbed would withstand the outdoor UV for very long.

Thanks Webtrekker yes that exactly what I am after, the ones with the vinyl lettering on the acrylic, and the brushed Alu back plate, the thing is I cant seem to fine them any where, the only ones are with names and numbers on and the firms doing them will only send them out blank but for the cost of having names etc on them but I guess I will keep looking

I noticed that MDP have recently started selling acrylic panels with standoffs and separate alu sheets, not sure the alu comes in the smaller sizes though, might be worth calling them!

Look at Alibaba - as the vast majority of people get them from there and you'll be surprised how cheap the blanks are but you have to order a *lot*

The best way of doing these is to buy a laser and cut the acrylic yourself. I presume you already have a plotter and suitable vinyl?

Its a decent niche, although price points on certain sales channels have been cut fairly thinly. Its a numbers game ( forgive the pun), but there is one hell of a lot to go at. Dye sublimation wouldnt last long enough, it needs to be able to withstand all weathers for a good few years.
