Hi, I'd like to introduce myself, my name is Paula. I'm a newbie to sublimation, I have a vinyl graphics business and have been printing clothing and decals for around 5 years. I'm hoping to start sublimating mugs and other small gifts to compliment the products we already produce.

I have purchased the Ricoh Aficio SG2100N and will be using the forum to get an idea of which papers and inks people are preferring so any recommendations are appreciated!

Many thanks!

Hi Paula and welcome to the forum. I wish you'd come on the forum before you bought the 2100 and I do wish suppliers would stop selling this model because it is not suitable for sublimation. Youll find a number of posts about this printer already on the forum but I'm afraid it's rarely good news. The standard Rico printer used to sublimation is the 3110.

Hi Paula. Welcome to the forum

At the top of the forum there are adverts for several suppliers that can advise you on inks etc.

I am new to the world of sublimation too but my research has lead me to believe that to start with it is a good idea to get all of your kit from a single supplier. That way they are able to help you with any problems that might arise more easily.

Did you buy your printer new or second hand?

Hi!

It's a new one, I picked it up when it was on offer a while ago, it's still in the box unopened so I could probably get back what I paid for it for someone to use as an office printer or even use it myself so no real loss. And yes after reading this forum I wouldn't have bothered with that model! I was just thinking it would be a cheap place to start but it's probably not worth setting up for sublimation after reading some of these posts.
