Re: Screen printing on correx and other plastic boards

Post by Bob700 »

Hi
I know nothing about screen printing but I was wondering what type of ink would be used to print on to plastic boards as I would like to make A3 size advertising board and it would be faster than using vinyl. I would happily pay to have a screen made for me if anyone would do it.

Thanks

How many are you looking at doing? I would have thought printed vinyl would be quicker? You can also get them printed directly, similar to DTG, probably with a UV machine.

I was thinking around 50 to start with I thought having a screen it would be quicker applying ink as it's single colour than doing them with vinyl but as I say I know nothing about screen printing

Corripol Ink (correx ink, or may have a few other names depending on supplier) will be scratch resistant when screen printed on to fluted polyolefin (estate agent) boards.

Thanks now I know what ink to buy all I need now is a screen I was wondering if I made a stencil using vinyl on to a blank screen would it work or would I be better off trying to find a screen printer to make me a screen although it may be difficult trying to get one made advertising T shirts from a screen printer in my own city

Your vinyl would/may melt due to the thinners in the ink, we have used this method for very small runs, but not with this ink. Might be worth a try though, nothing to lose. If its going to be ongoing with the same design, i'd get a screen made by a printers - it'll last for years and make for a sharper print.

If getting a screen made by a screen printers, search for a small outfit that maybe doesn't specialise in T'shirts. Even if they did, i'm sure they'll make you a screen - I've done this for other companies around the Newcastle area.

Good luck working with them, I had nightmare after nightmare and lost money when they went into administration, they've been taken over now.
