Re: Mug press element breakdown

Post by nibz33 »

I'm fairly new to pressing mugs and using an Adkins Studio. I've noticed that the first mug I press of the day usually has an almost burnt spot on the paper (always in the same area) and the print on the mug is a little "soft" in the same spot for the first mug. Not a problem as such as it's barely noticeable and consequent mugs are fine but it got me thinking that perhaps it's a sign of the element starting to breakdown.
Would anyone be so kind as to let me know whether elements die a slow and painful death (as described above) or do they just suddenly go.
I'm thinking that I should get myself a backup element whatever, so could anyone recommend a good supplier.
Thanks

Grab a back up! Xpres best if ordering other items otherwise you can order from Adkins directly. Last thing Friday something blew in our main Adkins Studio mug press but we have back up studio presses and elements until we figure out what.

Thanks for the info. I only have a halogen oven as backup at the moment so it would be a serious blow to suddenly lose my press.
I'll contact Xpres and see what they've got.
Cheers
