Re: Looking for new media, canvas, self adhesive etc.
Spent some time working with Colourbyte media and have to say, really not impressed. I bought the cheapest canvas material and also one of the most expensive for comparison. Both materials scratch and mark really easily, very disappointed.
So, I'm after another supplier for canvas material, any suggestions?

Colourbyte cheapest canvas is awful-more like strong paper, their 330gsm cotton canvas is excellent though. Head over to Tcs cad you can buy Hp canvas there at a reasonable price,it will still scatch the only way around that is to varnish it.

Hi Justin I've used HP Professional Matte Canvas (Q8674A) before on a HP 44" printer, It's fairly heavy but give great quality images especially when used with HP inks, I think it's possibly obsolete now but try Innovaart.com always had great products and service from them and they are a bit cheaper than most fine art media suppliers.

Grafityp....I use nothing else ....canvas, poster paper, print vinyl and never had anything other than excellent results on quality substrates.

Pigment ink will scratch, needs to be varnished regardless of canvas usedJustin;115775 wrote:Spent some time working with Colourbyte media and have to say, really not impressed. I'll have a go with varnishing, not something we've ever done but previous prints weren't inkjet. Any guidance on what to/not to buy here? I see you can get satin/mat etc.
Came across this guy whilst looking at varnishing....lol

Breathing Colour, Satin or Gloss
HVLP Spray gun, around £50
Worthwhile creating a simple card spray booth with good ventilation.
Add a couple of clips at the top & bottom to hold canvas.
1 Light coat vertically & 1 horizontally.
Varnish is water soluble so easy to clean the gun.
