Most people think they provide superior service these days so really that just becomes the expected level.
Xpres are very good all round and can never remember a single problem. Pricing generally good accross the board. As they are a large company you might not get the continuity of speaking to the same members of staff like BMW which some customers will like. There are over half a dozen long term suppliers that I would say are trustworthy and helpful but we tend to be creatures of habit and like going back to what we know. If it ain't broke..........

I think this is key - you build relationships with suppliers, even if it is just a relationship of putting an order on their website and it turning up quickly and the products being as described - this relationship/trust is then what you use to rely on for your own business. Saving a few quid here and there then doesn't really factor in the decision making process, if you have a supplier you're used for a long time and can trust to look after you, compared to an unknown that you have no previous trading with.Andrew;107330 wrote:we tend to be creatures of habit and like going back to what we know.
We have one supplier we use for big quantity orders throughout the year for a couple of our product lines, they aren't a big company, and could be classed as relative unknowns, but due to the business we put their way, even with extra negotiated discounts, they look after us, so we tend not the shop around on these products (unless they're out of stock, but as soon as they're back in stock we're back to them)
