Gimp graphic design software

Hi folks, I'm just starting out with my sublimation business & just starting slowly printing mugs. I purchased everything this week other than graphic design software. Instead, I downloaded GIMP which is free & apparently it is very similar to photoshop but I don't know much about it, I'd really appreciate any help & advice on how to use images off my laptop to produce mug wraps. Thanks.

If you are considering this as a business, rather than a hobby. I would suggest you get familiar with Photoshop. You can rent it for about £20 ish a month. I wasnt formally art trained and did it the hard way ie hours and hours of watching/reading tutorials and playing with images in photoshop. I dont want to come across as negative but you just have to put the hours in. Good luck.

We also recommend Photoshop CC and renting it for £8.57 a month (photography plan). You seriously cannot get better in the industry.

if you have never used either photoshop OR Gimp, - you face a very large learning curve on either

Photoshop is industry standard, - so what you learn on PS will be usefull and relevant universally, - but at a cost
GIMP is equally powerful, - and also a challenge to learn, - but is concidered the poor underdog. there will be less resources available to use or learn from, and you will have second class citizen status, - but it is free.
Choose 1 and stick with it, - while they are both very powerful, they are very different and crossover requires fresh learning

Not strictly true. They closed down the activation server for CS2 and a few other products, the download/serial is only intended for people who had already bought CS2

How they can enforce that Im not quite sure
