Hi, recently gotten into sublimation printing and having a blast so far, but our blacks nearly always look red or brown, could this be because of heating too long?
We have a Ricoh SG 7100dn and are using sublijet r inks, jet stream sublimation paper.
Now it isn't always, for instance text can look very black but other bits are more red? Also it happens very often when using actual photos as opposed to just graphical designs.
We've been cooking at most 3 at a time for 9/10 minutes at 200 degrees.
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance

YES,
overcooking!
do a strip test, incrementally more time on the same mug
probably 1 min at 160c once you are at temperature.
most good mug presses have an idle temp ,- say 110c - which you use to warm up the mug PROPERLY !!!!!
then you click GO - and it heats upto say 160c - and stays there for 1 minute, then it is finished. beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!

if youre doing 3 i imagine its in an oven im afraid its very trial and error in one of these but id say thats not long enough its 15mins at 200degrees for ONE mug , if you put more than one in it will be longer. A mug press is std 180degrees for 180seconds.
