Larger Vinyl Cutter Required?
Re: Larger Vinyl Cutter Required?
I have a craft robbo vinyl cutter that I am happy with, and cuts just fine - however it only cuts minimum size images and is not good for anything wider that A4 (unless you flip the image the other way around).
Anyway, some of the stuff I want to do on t-shirts and hoodies etc would be better if the vinyl was a little larger in size so I was looking for a cutter a little larger.
Obviously the craft robbo pro would be the way to go but with a budget in mind I think this may be out of the question.
I have seen one on e-bay and wanted to know what anyone thought?

It says that it can cut letters up to 3mm in size so it should be ok for my t-shirt designs that are quite 'intricate' in places.
What do you think, or can you reccomend another cutter (within budget).

Re: Larger Vinyl Cutter Required?
I don't think this plotter would cut letters down to 3mm - even a top named plotter would struggle and even if it could you would have big problems weeding it. Imagine taking the middle out of the letter "B" at 3mm high

We have a number of the PromaCut PC720 machines available
http://www.promaflex.com/pages_anglais/ ... omacut.htm
One has just be completely overhauled but doesn't have any software with it. You need WinPCSign but the machine is essentially brand new as it has just come back from the factory with everything replaced! Price negotiable, but in the ball park of the link above.

I'm interested Martin, if you can PM me with the price I can discuss this with the 'boss' as a couple of weeks ago I insisted to her that the only cutter I need is a robo craft one ................. how wrong I was!bms wrote:We have a number of the PromaCut PC720 machines available

Incidently, these machines (i.e the one listed above in my original post) are going for approx £210ish if bidding on them.
Also, how much does the winPCSign software cost?
If you can PM me details Martin I would appreciate it.
P.S - Martin, obviously you are a business man but what do you think of the one on e-bay?

Re: Larger Vinyl Cutter Required?
There isn't a price on the link as this is a weblink to the suppliers in France where they are sourced and supported (a bit closer than China, but this adds a bit of a premium to the price). We have these online at £695 +vat, but would be open to offers to move these as they're taking up valuable storage space!
I'll have to find out the price of winpcsign software separately but this may be available from other sources. I'll check on compatibility with the other software as well.
I've imported various file formats into winpcsign so if you can save/export your files in eps then they come into winpcsign fine.

Re: Larger Vinyl Cutter Required?
I've got one of that sellers cutters, the 54inch monster, and it cuts down to 3mm without a problem (rhinestone designs).
Granted I had problems with it initially, but he swapped it over without a problem and the new one works like a dream.
Oh, and I didn't buy from that ID, but from one of his other IDs, and mine doesnt' have optical eye capabilities, well, I don't think it does
And I never paid that amount for the bigger one

Re: Larger Vinyl Cutter Required?
So this plotter cuts accurately down to 3mm lettering - i'd love to see a video or youtube of this as I don't believe its capable - please prove me wrong
A rhinestone design is basically a circle (I think) so yes, I think it could cut circles down to 3mm - please try and cut a line of text, a full line of text without it running off or knacking up a few letters. There lies the gauntlet

John
I will cut some 3mm lettring for you tomorrow from the cutter.
Don't have a video camera, so can't take a video of it doing the job, but will gladly post a piccy of the 3mm text, if it works

Re: Larger Vinyl Cutter Required?
Well, the cutter cut 3mm lettering OK
The problem arose when I was trying to weed it, some stayed where it should, and some came off with the weed
Will try a different vinyl next time and see if that makes a difference.
Give me a nudge if I 've not got back to you this time next week, got a head like a sieve at times
