Re: Printing in advance

Post by Kryptor »

Hey everyone, hope you are all having a good day

I've tried searching the web with no luck, perhaps my choice of words isn't the best so thought I'd ask the experts here.

I'm going to be producing a large amount of goods in the next few days for my partner to promote her business and just wondered if I could print the designs in advance before the items turn up?

I'm looking to run off about 10 sheets of sublimated print but thought better of it until I knew for definite that I wouldn't be wasting them??

Look forward to someone coming back with their own personal experiences or even just a straight forward NO to save me cash

Thanks in advance
Thanks in advance,
Dave

Equipment used: Virtuoso SG400, Ricoh C511dn, 2 mug presses (who knows what make they are)......., 2 flatbed presses (who knows what make they are)......., PixMax vinyl cutter.
Soon to be hopefully a nice shiny white sublimation printer soon (it's on the wish list, just got to get the wife to let me buy it)

It is okay to print off the transfers but as you have no products as yet how do you know that your sizes are correct for the items you want to press. Once you have played around with your sizes and settings you will know more.
Many thanks
Iain

Equipment used A4 Ricoh printer, HP3085 Heat Press Graphtec cutter, Jarin mug press, CJV 30-60 solvent printer and lots of help from DSF.

Hi Quinsfan,
Thanks for replying to my post. I know what sizes I need as I have templates for them and have previously sublimated some of the items.

The reason for the question is that I have never mass printed the designs before and didn't know if I could get away with doing so.

If I decide to mass print them how long will the prints last before they become unusable and also how should they be stored until my goods turn up?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks jennywren, looks like I have a plan now then. I'm going to be printing as soon as I get back home tomorrow and then lookout blanks when they turn up :)

We had a mug design that was hugely popular at Christmas. We sold over 1000 in December. I printed off quite a few extra sheets of the design to save time. I've noticed that now they have started browning and bleeding, despite being in a sealed plastic wallet to keep them free from dust and moisture. I wouldn't do so many in advance again, unless I was going to use them within a month.

I suppose it could depend on what printer and ink you are using,

but using Ricoh and sublijet r i have printed prints out and used some of them a month later and they have all been fine, i put them in a zip polly bag.

Thanks for the advice folks. I think that I'll stick to no longer than a month as a good rule then. I like you viccar have the Ricoh with sublijet inks. I believe I'm using Trupix paper too (can't remember as I have recycled the outer sleeve).
