Discoloured Mugs
Re: Discoloured Mugs
As a beginner I have been reading your forum for about 2 weeks so have bought a ricoh g3110dn subli ink also have an Epson workforce 2650 Inkjet(non genuine but tried with genuine and had the same result) trying to do some mugs but no success after all truepix, bms and another 2 kind of paper on different temperature on the heat press etc and nothing they are coming out as a yellow/green color but picture on the paper is perfect(same thing with t shirts). What am doing wrong?I suppose it`s the printer but I don't know what else to change tried everything from your forum and others...please advise
Re: Discoloured Mugs
Looks like you have been using normal ink jet ink and not sublimation ink.
When you make a print on to the sublimation paper with sublimation ink it will look crap on the paper... faded and well off colour. It's not till the ink gets heated that it will change to the correct colours.
That yellowy colour is typical of people trying to use normal ink jet inks.

Open your printer and look at the ink cartridges. Are they just black or do they have SubliJetR written on them? If they are just black then very likely the ink isn't sublimation ink.

The ricoh has sublijet r in, Epson I keep it on normal inkjet.this is made with ricoh sublijet.i ve put a few drops from the subli refills straight on the paper and it came nicely on the mug but when I print something it wont come on the mug.

Re: Discoloured Mugs
It`s a multifunctional 8 in 1 heat press and I tried all the time and temperature that I found on the forum.the one with the dog has beed in at 204c for 360sec.ive pre heated the mugs as well although didn't need as the temeparature dropped only 2c when I`ve placed the mug.as for the printer settings I am using a conde icc profile.can the mugs make so much difference as they are 1pound mugs from ebay?or the subli ink I am thinking maybe not the right consistency?i don`t know....

Re: Discoloured Mugs
Are you 100% sure you have subli inks in 3110? Did you get gel inks in the box as well? Maybe your mugs aren't properly coated. 180c for 180secs is a good starting point.
Re: Discoloured Mugs
got the gel ink with the printer but replaiced them with the refillable witch have subli (that's what it says on the bottles they were 40quid from ebay) should I get some subli ink from sawgrass?so the mugs can be the problem as well!thats how the fist mug was done 180c for 180.thank you for all the help I will order another type of ink and let you know how it`s going.
Re: Discoloured Mugs
You say you replaced the Gel Inks with the Refill Inks you purchased. Did you ever put the gel ink cartridges in the printer?

Re: Discoloured Mugs
is the paper in the right way? it may well be the inks, £40 for a set, genuine sawgrass ink is around £40 per colour. use 1 mug with a part image on it, and write the times down on it, before you press, then you can use 1 mug several times
