colour problems

hi I'm Sandra and new to this so just starting out, everything going great except colour isn't what I expected, kinda as I my ink is faded and it is full. I'm using ricoh sg2100n and think I need an icc profile, at the moment I'm on mugs haven't ventured onto tshirts yet until I get better colour results, any help would be appreciated thanks

You have pretty much answered your own question, however...

Not sure why you are using a 2100 for dye sub, I did try one as a back up which ended up in the skip due to so many problems. People think they are the same as the 3100 but there must be some differences as it is a woeful machine.


That said, I presume you did your research and purchased from a reputable dye sublimation supplier. This means you should go back to them and ask them for the ICC profile and instructions on how to install it. If you are using Sawgrass inks then you can download the profile from their website.

I have used both 3100 and 2100 recently with transfer inks from natureink and it worked fine without ICC profile. For what it is worth I think the transfer paper makes a huge difference, I use trupix and leave the paper 10-15 mins when printed the press at 180 secs and 180 temp.

hi thanks for replies yeah I researched for ages and this model kept saying great great great, only when I joined this that I found some had issues with it but so far apart from slight fading all is well. so thanks ill take the idea of other paper and ill contact my supplier, I thought that I had to have one specially made for my printer as suggested through forums, I contacted paul few days ago but not had a reply as yet n just desperate to get going really. ill get onto the now thanks again as I didn't realise paper had a lot too do with it and resting times as I say I'm a total learner.

Spoken to the company where i purchased printer and most helpful explained all about icc profiles and that in actual fact id need one everytime i changed products as in suppliers. He is working on something that can do this from the finished product as opposed too a print out on a sheet so quite cool! N also told me how to change colours myself although i aint got round to it as yet. It sounds hopeful though

Of corse, would be nice to have icc for each product, but you don't do reading from printed paper. you pressing it and then calibrate.
so all you need is just send your printed samples and rest will be done in the background...

You leave the paper on for 10-15 mins? On mugs? Im not doing this!!

We are new to this too and I'm really having trouble with colours. Ricoh 2100, inkexpress gel dye sublimation ink and subright paper.
I have a icc profile and ive tried printing mugs with
No colour management
Printer determine colour
Photoshop determine colour
Tried them all and none of them come out with scanned colours, will not print
Blue, red or black,
What am I doing wrong??

Got it, thought I was doing wrong as I take paper off straight away.
