How would you print this?
Re: How would you print this?
I've posted this in the Misc Printing thread but am reposting here as not sure if it will be seen there...hope that's ok.
Hello there,
Been a while since I've been on here but I need some advice as I can't bear to listen to the other half swearing any more.
We're doing a job which is totalling nearly 80 pieces, with more than 250 logos between them, on arms, back and front of garments.
We have a BN20 and are printing and cutting the logos on this. Each logo is three colour or full colour, some include white and we've been using Magic Touch's Soldark. The whole process of printing, cutting, applying app tape and weeding has taken forever (several days), with many bits of logo coming off and being lost along the way. Then, when pressing we've been getting mixed results and lost a few polos (see pic).
When we started doing this, we were using single colour vinyl cut on a Graphtec 600 and layering but because a lot of work coming in was using many colours we invested in a BN20 thinking it would be easier and quicker. Unfortunately, every job seems to be quite intricate and problematic.
What other print methods do other members use, and what would method would you use to print this logo (below) onto a soft shell jacket/polo/hoodie at just 10cm in width? We're currently having to do the word Raid and the orange diver on the BN20 and the blue globe on 123 flex and pressing it after as the Soldark won't weed, the detail is so fine, it all just falls off.
I feel we spend a fortune in equipment and whatever we get is still not right for the next job that comes to us!
What other options (preferably quicker and less frustrating!) are there out there? Would anyone be able to produce any test transfers for us?
Thanks for your advice!

Re: How would you print this?
As it's only 10cm I'd probably do it the same as you, white and orange in soldark then a quick flash with 123 blue (don't really trust 123 yet 100%)
Soldark can be a pain to lift off the backing with small bits of the blue.... not enough for the transfer tape to stick too to lift it off.

Re: How would you print this?
Why use a different material for the globe? Can't the BN-20 print all the colours and then cut it? If the detail is too fine I would say to the client it is to fine and would they be happy with losing the smallest dots. I had to do this one recently using MDP Hot Flex and had to lose the smallest dots around the hearts. My client was fine about it.
Many thanks

Re: How would you print this?
We have print and cut 85 of them and only a third of the globe remains. The loss is too great. The 123 keeps 80% of the design and is passable. A real pain as the took hours to print and cut...I am not liking this logo!
Re: How would you print this?
We have generally lovely results with 123, better than any of the print and cut vinyls..
Re: How would you print this?
I would print the blue and black of the globe on the BN20 along with the white and orange then have a single cut line around the globe/diver's arm. No little blue bits lost.
Re: How would you print this?
just put a black box around it all like in the bottom image (or tshirt colour) and don't waste time weeding it out
Re: How would you print this?
Unfortunately leaving the background is not the look they are looking for..
What kind of results would you get from something like wow paper using the Oki White printer? Don't they ha a no weed paper?

Re: How would you print this?
get intouch with magic touch or xpres or someone like that. or grafityp. they sell it all and should help you. your probably need both systems. which is the same dilemma we have been faced. there is not a one system fits all. i would embroider it. #justsaying.
