Re: Do you need to Mod an Epson WP 4095 for Sublimation?

Post by buffalo joe »

I brought a system for making cases and the WP 4095 that was supplied has packed in. I need to buy a new one, the supplier I brought the system from has quoted a price that's quite a bit more expensive than other prices I've seen on the internet. They said that I have to get the printer from them as it's been modified for their system for the best results. I'm not sure if this is true or just some sales talk to make me buy another printer from them. Is this possibly true? or anyway to check ?

Thanks for any help in advance and sorry if this sounds like a really stupid question. I don't really know much about how it all works.

The 4095 uses extra large ink cartridges and that is it. The printer is obsolete but has been replaced. If you click this link and go to Specifications you can which newer printers also use the same refill carts. Fill it up with Inktec Sublinova and get a custom ICC profile made and you are good to go.

Any 4 colour workforce printer should be fine as long as you can get the refill carts.

So you think if I buy another 4095 from somewhere else on the internet there will be no difference than buying from them? They are ready to use off the shelf? I just need to buy another printer will keep the same ink cartridges I already have for my old 4095. I just wanted to make sure that the original supplier I brought them off were telling the truth when they told me I wouldn't be able to use a 4095 brought from somewhere else.

Are you printing with film? Some suppliers of 3D machines mod the printers to prevent track marks on the film.

That will be it then. They remove some (not all) of the 'pizza cutter' paper feed wheels to allow the film to feed through without leaving track marks in the print.
You can do it yourself but probably best to pay them as you will have a warranty if anything goes wrong.
