I've been using Norton Ghost for almost 15 years, to make an image or a copy of my Disk C: Any complicated software problem I have with my computer, I just restore the Ghost image and a few minutes later it's back to business.

More recently I've been using Macrium Reflect which is free and does the same as Ghost.

I agree that Dell's next day service is amazing, if your in warranty!1 But to be honest it isn't that good for the engineer.

When I was working for them we got £8.00 per call, not per hour but per call. So if the call took 5 mins we got £8.00 if it took 5 hours we got £8.00. We didn't get anything for parking or petrol etc. Can you imagine going to a call at Gatwick Airport, as I did once, parking in the expensive car park, going to the landing side, wait for an escort to the take of side, (oh and we had to take our passports with us as well), eventually get to the machine and fix it, wait for the escort back etc. Not only has it eaten away your £8.00 but a hell of a lot more!

I had one call where I waited 30 mins for the escort, when they phoned up to ask where it was, the reply was oh we fixed it the internet wire was out. We told Dell, but they hadn't bothered to tell the engineer who was sat sitting waiting for them!
