USA laws are different to UK laws, there was a design company in Newcastle a few years ago was sued by Disney, no letter no cease and desist just straight to court. They pleaded guilty which they were and went out of business. The owner nearly did jail time. Not worth the risk

I have just had a violation hit from the Zumba people. I had a mug on fleebay saying Keep Calm and Zumba on, and they say that is against copyright!

Hum, interesting, does that mean that all the posters that are out there saying come to the Zumba class are also copyright infringement?

It would be a trademark infringement if this link works:

https://www.ipo.gov.uk/tmtext/Results

There are T shirt companies who spend half their time registering all sorts of slogan trademarks, you have to be on your toes. Just because 'everybody' is doing that design, there's a fair chance someone is trying to register it.

try this instead

https://www.ipo.gov.uk/tmtext

it won't work with results on the end.

I have last touch with copyright having been out of full time pro photography for quite a few years now. there used to be a couple of really good books aimed at photographers but all related to the (from memory, I thnk these are the right years) 1975 and 1984 copyright acts. They were small volumes, easy to read and comprehend without getting tied up in the fine detail - if you wanted fine detail you had to go to the original Act.

Anyone know if there are any good (and simple) books that encompass more recent revisions to the copyright acts?
