since you one of the new members here, i will enlighten you sir, or madam,as you cant dam well tell on here whos what n who lol

this has ALL be tried before on here many yrs ago, and you STILL got the newbies asking the same questions in new threads about the stuff that was posted in the "newbie help section"...
they dont seem to read it for some reason
hence why you will get "some" members getting little nippy under the collar.

all its doing is clogging up forum space with the same questions that can be 99% answered by.....wait for it....by...... USING THE SEARCH function

I'm sure I am not the first to suggest this, but perhaps not allowing basic "members" to post questions may ease the tide of neebie questions and force them to search instead.

I have looked (and continue to look) at solutions for this, I'm always open to ideas. When does a 'new' member stop being new and when would they be allowed to post?

This has come up on every forum I've been on!
If you restrict new people being able to post, they generally don't hang around to jump through the hoops to be able to, and then you end up with a forum where there's no new blood coming in and the forum begins to die.

Telling newbies to search for it can help but sometimes you don't know what your looking for and a little handholding sticky post goes a long way in welcoming future old members, don't think Id like to be called an 'old member' myself anyway, sounds a bit rude but each to their own as they say lol. Maybe put the top ten questions and answers in the welcome email.

Maybe a nag screen for members with a post count less than x - so once they've tyed a post and clicked to post it, they go to a screen showing links to various FAQs posts, reminding them to look at those before posting what is already done to death. And then the confirm new post button is at the bottom of that window.
I'm on a forum which parses your posts, and you get a nag window saying "you appear to be posting on x subject ... please see these previous posts" kinda thing

The problem is that everyone want's it NOW! Why bother wasting time reading when someone will tell me for FREE!

I owe the members of this forum for my sublimation education but it's due to trawling through previous posts (of which some are quite entertaining) which teach the essentials required to get you well above newbie status. I moved over from digital photography and printing into sublimation two years ago, I'm still here and business is growing all the time. I paid the price and bought quality kit, use original inks and paper and quality garments that I charge a premium for. All thanks to you guys pointing me gently in the right direction like (quote) "I'm sure there is a previous post where this is discussed at some length, please look for it!" Worked for me. :D

I tell you where is the problem. People comming to this foum. Asking questions. (Perfectly fine questions most of the time).
but after two months on here they sadly become a pros coz they are here for 5minutes longer then others.
So how do we know who is a "newbie" and who isnt?
Some people are here for years now and still asking school boy error questions and some are just signed up but has tones of knowledge.
