Please help - icc profiles? What on earth is this

It's all good and well trying to save money whilst starting out, I fully appreciate that. The fact remains that the 2100 was tested and found not to be suitable for sublimation. Who knows, you could be lucky and get a printer/ink combo that works for you but as this and other threads confirm this is highly unlikely.

Take it from the members that have been there and done that over many years. Save your money until you can buy a decent system from a reputable supplier. It is indeed possible to save money down the line but my advuce, learn the business first, get making some money now and don't waste your time trying to start as cheaply as possible, it really is futile.

You could get an ICC profile made to correct colours for that printer, assuming that the ink you have is actually suitable for the Ricoh printers, and is sublimation ink. You also want to make sure you have decent sublimation papers.
From looking at your pictures though, this looks to be more of a problem than just needing an ICC profile - from my guess either the ink isn't good, or isn't flowing through your printer properly - can you post a picture of a nozzle check pattern.

I think a large part of the issue with the SOA cup was not knowing settings...in order to get the print like that I had melted the paper to the cup (or is it the cup coating to the paper?) if i remember correctly I had put that one in for 360 seconds @ 195 c stood for about 10 minutes after cooling scrubbing the cup trying to get the paper off.

if you're not getting goodish results at 180 degrees (C) for 180 seconds then there is something wrong - that would always be the starting point I would recommend.

That has been the biggest pain in my ... well! anyway.

Ricoh SG2100n

After installing your sublimation ink and printing (ensuring you have the right side of the paper) if you get the same as the images above I have posted, try adding the cup to the press for 30 to 35 seconds.

So you want to:

Put your dummy cup in the press and turn it on.
Allow it to heat to 190 c
Get your design and tape it to your cup ensuring the cup is clean.
Wait for the press to heat then put the cup you want to sublimate in.
Wait for the temp to rise back to 190c
Start timing for 30 - 35 seconds
Remove cup from the press and get the paper off.
place slowly into room temperature water, leaving it to cool

If you cup is faded add more pressure.

I started to get a blue background on everything I printed. Changed the profile, now going to test lmfao

Browning of the writing just a little, going to reduce the temperature then the time 180 @ 30 seconds.

Put together a few test mugs for people at work to try, I want to see what the ware and tare on the cups over the course of a few weeks before I start selling!
