Re: Help required please - Illustrator

Post by technick »

Hope someone can point me in the right direction here!

All my kit is ready to go... BMS 11oz European mugs, mug presses, Truepix paper, heat tape and Ricoh SG3100 printer with inks.

I have all of a sudden hit a mental block with Illustrator....

Would any of you be able to share some video tutorials on the template design process please?

  • Designing and saving a font only template in Illustrator
  • Setting up the correct template dimensions in Illustrator for printing onto BMS mugs
  • Reversing the image template (do you save these files as reversed as default?)
  • How to apply three templates to one page for printing.
Please move the post if i am not in the right section.

Cheers,
Nick

Hi Nick

  • Setting up the correct template dimensions in Illustrator for printing onto BMS mugs
New Document, 300DPI, 22x9cm seems to be the standard that both Paul and Martin use (both users on here who sell templates) and worked well as my guide, but wont allow 3 mugs to a sheet (will allow 2 though)

  • Reversing the image template (do you save these files as reversed as default?)
Your powerdriver will do this as standard

  • How to apply three templates to one page for printing.
Only way to achieve this is too size 21x9, however Ricoh doesnt do borderless print, so reduces print area even further.

Ideally 22x9 and 2 landscape, just copy your templates into a blank a4 file when ready and position accordingly.

Just to add a little something. We use the BMS mug paper (Xpres sell a slightly larger mug paper size). You create a custom paper size via printer properties. No need to cut down paper just print, stick and press.

Are you using a 3100 or was this a typo and should have read 3110?
