BN-20 General Cleaning
Re: BN-20 General Cleaning
Hi
Just got myself a used BN-20 and want to keep it clean. What can I use to just wipe over the inside and out to remove any dust. I've been shown the manual clean etc so won't go near any technical bits but just worry that dust will get in the back etc. I saw on a stahls video that they wipe over with alcohol wipes? and they also squirt some cleaning solution in the capping station but you aren't told to do this in the manual clean so not sure if I should do this or not? Do any of you cover up you BN-20 when not in use?
Thanks for your help

Re: BN-20 General Cleaning
Congratulations Lianne! Where was it from? Yes I sheet mine over when it's not in use and shake it out regularly. Surface wise I've used baby wipes outside but it doesn't generally get dirty so an occasional dust over is all I need do. You might need something stronger for any ink marks. I've not sprayed anything into the capping station but do the manual cleans regularly. I've also done a wiper and felt replacement as this helps keep the head clean via it's automatic cleaning cycles so be sure to leave it connected and switched on to the mains power.

Re: BN-20 General Cleaning
thanks Mark, I got it off ebay, it was from the person selling lots of new items I posted about. It has 6 months warranty left which should be transferred to me once I get setup and email over a nozzle check. I've just plugged it in and left it on with the blue flashing light for now as I need to get a new laptop and will then install the software etc and am also waiting on some vinyl samples from Xpres as it didn't come with any vinyl. As it's not new I'm assuming when I install the software I can skip the bit about the empty carts and adjustment etc as it's all been setup so will see.
Re: BN-20 General Cleaning
well done! you will love it.
I keep my covered to when not used as dust goes on roll and just ruin your print.
I also use little bit of window cleaner on cloth to give it a quick wipe.
One more thing, You don't need to have it ON with blue light flashing constantly. As long as its hooked up to the socket and ON/OFF button at the back is ON, then this will do. machine will perform maintenance when it needs to. so no need for flashing light at night
all the best

Re: BN-20 General Cleaning
As it's been used it should just be a case of installing the software which is quick and easy to do although I would say to go through all the settings like the cutting offsets and so on. I'd stick the software on whatever computer you have and run the BN Utility up and if you have any vinyl at all run a printhead test off, I assume you did one before you bought it? Did you get any cleaner and foam swabs with it for the manual cleans? I'd get some if not.

Re: BN-20 General Cleaning
I've now got it all setup and had the remaining 6 month warranty transferred over to me. Finally received some printed samples from Xpres after waiting 3 weeks and the print looks grainy, not a solid colour. Is this what the BN-20 does or is it the paper which I think is easy print. I did ask them to be printed out on a mixture of papers with and without a white boarder so I can compare but was never done so am thinking about asking grafityp for some samples to see if they can do any better?
Re: BN-20 General Cleaning
Not sure I understand why you want printed samples to compare? You need to print out from your printer onto the digital medias you want to use and see what output your own printer produces. Cheaper to experiment print and cut trials with digital sign vinyl before trying garment vinyl and the output should not be grainy.

Re: BN-20 General Cleaning
Hi Mark
I wanted to see what my designs looked like with and without the white outline to see if the white outline would make the designs stand out better on coloured items. The vinyl used was solvent dark plus in the end which isn't what I asked for so a complete waste of time. I didn't have my printer when I asked for the samples but was hoping this would help me choose which vinyls to go for as I thought that how they come out would be the same as how mine would come out if they were printed on a BN-20. Should I being buying small rolls then and doing my own tests as that's seems a waste of money if I don't end up using it which is why I asked for printed samples.
Thanks
Lianne

Re: BN-20 General Cleaning
Ah okay understand that better now. You can buy garment vinyl in meters though depending on the supplier which keeps wastage costs down, it's best to conduct your own tests with your own equipment.

Re: BN-20 General Cleaning
i had roll from xpres and I wasn't over the moon with it. I asked grafityp to provide samples and they send me fantastic little folder with ALL transfer papers they do. it was already printed so i could compare. I made my order next day and always ordering from them now.
