Hi Iain, you don't have to use them constantly. Latex ink is water based.
It's a rare day when ours doesn't get used. Lots of things we used to do on inkjet work so much better on latex. Roller banners, backlit film, vinyls, etc. It's a hefty investment though. Ours cost close to £25K including the Onyx RIP.
