Quote mug help
Re: Quote mug help
I am a newbie on here so please be gentle.
I currently personalise products with a cutter and vinyl but have been asked to make some quote mugs, so they wont have any images as such.
Do I still need to wrap the entire mug or can I cut the paper down to save the paper (ie: get more quotes per page) or would this leave a visible impression where the mug has no design on it? I don't want an obvious break in the finish of the mug and the design.
Thanks for any advice.

Yes you can cut the paper down but you need to be careful that your belt has no residual image on it or you will get ghosting from previous images which would normally be absorbed by the back of the transfer paper.

Re: Quote mug help
Cutting down is fine.. Although watch out for the ghosting. Blank sheet of paper wrapped around with it? Would be harder to line it up.

Presumably this would be limited by using a Teflon sheet around the mug?

BEAR IN MIND THAT THE INK IS MORE expensive thsan the paper, - the paper is pennies, - if you are too mean with the paper you will end up spoiling mugs by printing them wonky, or the offcuts may jam in the printer waisting ink.

Yes IF it was clean, the trouble is you can't see any residual image on the teflon sheet and a virgin white mug will pick up anything that is there. Your economy of sublimation paper might well cost you with ghosted spoilt mugs plus its also harder to get small bits of paper correctly aligned assuming you are not going to be putting them at random sloping angles.
Re: Quote mug help
Thank you for all your replies. I wasn't trying to save paper but wondered about the affect of cutting paper down. Having trialled a mug my worries were unfounded.

Re: Quote mug help
Cut it and stick with the heat proof tape then pop some copier paper over it to protect it. Personally I wouldn't bother cutting it down though

You question about cutting the quotes up to save paper brings to mind the old quote 'don't spoil the ship for a ha'p'orth of ta'! The cost of paper and the cost of your time, is it worth it to save on paper. I wouldn't bother to be honest!
