Re: Mug Packaging

Post by anniecov »

My business has been in large printing format for quite a few years.

Recently one of our biggest customers asked if we could compliment their products with mugs. I looked into it and bought a Ricoh with a press and off I went. Quite a few mugs went in the bin but eventually I grasped the process and was happy enough to resell the products... oh and I am very fussy.

My one bugbear has been mug packaging. My customer wanted 11oz mugs. We got polystyrene packaging but it all seemed to be for 10oz mugs that need a lot of reinforcement on the handle to be useable.

Why don't packaging manufacturerers make mug packaging for 11oz mugs rather than for 10oz? That way it would fit both. Better a little too large than splitting on the handle?

Thanks! I know that 11oz mug packaging is available. It's just not the 10oz bulk stuff that;s much cheaper.

You can buy by the lorry load, is that not bulk enough.......and you asked for 11oz then say "I know"...

11oz is not readily available. I have ordered and paid then been told not available and refunded.

I just want 10oz manufaturers to consider making 11oz that will fit both 10oz and 11oz mugs.

Greedy sorry!

Try Custompac www.custompac.co.uk. Asked for some samples from them and they arrived a 6 pack, and single packs ALL for 11oz which I use all the time.

I do use the 10oz poly as well, and have had very few that have split. I find if the mug is put in carefully they it does not split!

We tape up the corners with packaging tape before inserting the mug. It seems to work.

We have a lot of requests for jumbo 15oz+ mugs. How do you go about packaging those?
