Hi Guys,

i've got quite a lot of designs that go from the top to the bottom of them mug so want to be able to print like thi, and im having issues with the bottom of the mug, ive tried different mugs from different companys same issue im using a ricoh 3110 and the paper is pre cut mug paper texprint-r

mug press' are the cheaer chinese ones and the [h=1]DF1+ Genius Mug Press[/h]i cant really tell much difference between the mug press's so my question is will getting a adkins mug press solve this issue or do i need to pre-heat the base of the mug if so how are people pre heating?

is anyone printing from top to bottom successfully if so what mugs are you using.
ive tried finding a adkins mug press but most places seem to be out of stock :/
ive attached a mug ive bought of another seller thats pretty much what im looking for

Adkins will do as good a job as anything you'll find but more importantly you need the right mug. I always avoid top to bottom and prefer a 5mm gap instead as I feel this compliments the space adjacent the mug handle that you can't print in. I use Xpres 5013 mugs which are excellent but I always air on the side of caution and pre-heat the bottom if going anywhere close :-)

I just put the lower inch or so into the press for 20 secs. Otherwise if I have my flat press on I sit mugs on the upper platen to warm through.

The other approach, although slow, is to set the press at a dwell temp of 100 degrees, press temp 180 (in my case) and as the press raises the temperature of the mug through a greater range, and thus more time, it does the job of getting more heat into the base.
This only applies to my cheaper presses, as I can't do this with my Adkins.

thats what we do on our flat bed press's with mugs ;)

if only doing mugs, and other press's are off, we stick the base in the end of the mug press for about 50 sec or so, take out and let cool for 20 sec, then apply paper....
top to bottom full coverage as always  no gaps/fade top or bottom
