Re: Mugs????

just to add to this regarding mugs and quality and what is acceptable. I have always used Xpres for mugs and never had any problems, no breakages, blemishes or print problems. With this in mind and for some bizarre reason i decided to purchase a couple of boxes of white 10 oz mugs from another reputable supplier just to test the water. When they arrived first impressions were fine, nice and bright etc, so i thought i would use them on a job. On starting to print them i noticed little holes on the surface of a mug, thinking it could just be a one off i had a quick look through the box and found 17 of the 36 with similar holes in the coating. (see attached) There was no way i could risk using them they looked the type of mug you would class as a seconds if you saw in a shop. I rang up the supplier who were great and sent me a Freepost address to return them saying i could either have a refund or replacements. i opted for replacements.
Here is the reply i received...
We have issued a full refund for the returned mugs
Our mugs are manufactured products and are priced as such. However with all manufactured glazed pottery there may be blemishes or marks upon the pottery ‘finish' or within the ‘glaze’. These are not defects and we do not consider them as faulty we do understand if these are not suitable for your use and honor your request for a refund however we wont able to guarantee if we replace you will not come across these blemishes again therefore we have opted for the refund .To prevent any future quality issue we don't advise to purchase the same type of mugs.

As i have never come across these faults on the Xpres mugs just wondering is this a common fault with mugs

So far the coralgraph cheap mugs are the only ones I've found to have pin holes which I don't see it as a problem if they're right by the handle but if they are in the print area then it is a problem. There are normally a few with pin holes in their boxes, 17 sounds a lot though.
I don't recommend anyone try them because their coating is rubbish but longforte also had a quirk with their mugs where you will find some of them will have black specks in the coating and if they are in the print area then that would make them no good even for promo mugs.
I should point out that the mugs I'm referring to are 11oz not 10oz as I haven't bought many different types of 10s, I believe I've tried nearly all of the different types of 11oz mugs from uk suppliers (the only one I can think of I haven't tried is longforte extra white) and all have had some form of disadvantage or flaw.

Im new to all of this! Could anyone let me know of a high quality 11oz mug where I am not going to get slammed with delivery charges from the supplier and also sending out to customers? BMS European are a little too heavy. Xpres only seem to do a 10oz? I've invested in good equipment so far and the mug's are the only item I am unsure of. Cheers:)

To add to my last post... I've thoroughly researched this forum however cannot find strong reviews on a supplier apart from BMS who are consistently firing out 11oz mugs without any issues.

I think its a case of reading threads and find mugs that you are happy with, as you can see by this thread opinions are varied about mugs. The best thing is use the suppliers recommend by this forum and judge for your self

Hi, you will find that an 11oz mug will be heavier/ chunkier than the European/Durham mugs as the 11oz style are usually 95mm tall with a larger C shaped handle and consequently have more weight to them.

These were all on the print area, so a big problem, at least they gave me a refund with no problems...the moral of the story is if you find mugs you like don't change!!

What ones are the Coralgraph cheap ones ? In white 10 oz they only have one available as with the 11 0z. Are these them ?
Also I'm after 11oz two tone mugs [inside and handle]. I was looking at Coralgraph. Should I look elsewhere ?

Thanks for any help

Yes they are the cheap ones although I've not bought the 10oz only the 11oz, their higher qualilty mugs are the "11oz Ultra White Reinforced Grade A+++" also notably the only mugs they sell that state a grade in the description.
They do state on their sublimation mugs index page "Our mugs are Triple A grade coated mugs" but other supplier and manufacture pages I've read would consider pinholes as B grade mugs.

What you says is true with 11oz being bigger then 10oz and having bigger handles they are going to weigh more but the 11oz you do at BMS are noticeably heavier than any other 11oz mugs on the market. 2 11oz BMS mugs + 2 90mm square coasters + smashproof box will weigh over 1kg where as the orca or other 11oz mugs will weigh under 1kg, so for first class or international your 11oz will mean higher postage cost and the same for 2nd class if you are sending 4 because you then go over 2kg.
