Re: Coaster Printing Problems

Hi, I am having terrible problems printing black backgrounds onto Coaster.
I have been sublimating these and this particular image for years so I am at a loss
as to what the issue is.
The background used to come out jet black and shiny, it is now cloudy dark grey!!
I have tried drying out the coasters, different pressures and times but nothing seems
to make a difference.
the only thing that has changed since doing this batch is where they are stored. It is much
colder but as I said previously, I have warmed them up over several days on a radiator.

Thank you..

Hi. When you look at your printed image on the paper does it look normal or lighter and mottled? Could be a printing problem if so. A nozzle check would tell you. Is other work printing ok? I have had solid black backgrounds on coasters look slightly mottled on the paper but they sublimate ok.

Just seen another post where pre-pressing the coasters sorted the problem...........

Ok, thank you, I have looked at some suggestions on another thread, have cleaned heads and done a test all seems to be ok. I will give the Coasters another go.

Thank you.

I am using a different press for these items. Up to now I have only sublimated fabrics. I am wondering if the temperature is a problem.
I cannot find anywhere where it tells you if it is Fahrenheit or Celsius. The only clue I have it goes up to a maximum of 300 - would anyone know?

I would guess that is Celsius. Cloudy is either not enough pressure or low temp. Make sure it's firmfirm pressure when closing and if still problems then raise temp. Time should be aro60secs. A digital laser thermometer is often a good tool for sublimation as not all presses are accurate to what they displaydisplay.

If your press is Fahrenheit then it won't give the temp needed to print at 300.

I have not been able to resolve my cloudy black background. I have sent some prints and coasters to a friend who helps me with some pressing and his result was the same. Is it possible the ink has gone off or do you think there is a setting on the comuter/printer drive I have not set properly. I am running windows ten and thinking about it this is the first time I have done these coasters as had plenty of stock previosuly.

Looks as though my ink is out of date after all that. Does anyone know if there are sny suppliers in Surrey/Kent that supplies ink. I have
ordered but I doubt I will get the ink until Tuesday.
