Re: ricoh aficio sg 2100n And mug press

Post by Anth1981 »

Hi I'm new on here so I apologise if I'm posting this in the wrong place.

im trying to print on mugs and have gone through all the timing and heat elements (I'm using a pixmax heat press and a ricoh aficio sg 2100n printer) and the results I'm getting are terrible to say the least.

I'm guessing the Ricoh printer I'm using isn't up to scratch? As I say I'm new to this so any advice is appreciated

thanks

That's what I'm getting. This is after raising the temp and time. I was on 120 time and 300f and the image wasn't even printing. The yellow you see there is meant to be black

Are you using sublimation ink, sublimation paper have you got an ICC profile?
Pull up a chair a large mug of coffee and have a good look at this forum and you may find some useful advice.
Many thanks
Iain

Equipment used A4 Ricoh printer, HP3085 Heat Press Graphtec cutter, Jarin mug press, CJV 30-60 solvent printer and lots of help from DSF.

Try 338f (170c) for 140 seconds and if that doesn't work then 374 (190c) for 200 seconds.

Agree with Paul.

Just getting that yellow is classic Ricoh ink output and not SubliJetR inks.

Great little printer for home printing but you'll need the SG3110 SubliPrinter or the newer SG400 Virtuoso printer which will come with the correct inks and profiling software (latter free of charge) to use with the inks.

yep, as above. 100% not sublimation inks. After the hours I spent trawling the net to sort my printer I saw loads of this. Problem you will have now is contaminated lines from the normal ink. Ive got a 3 month old printer that's only good for normal printer work as it was a reconditioned replacement.

I bought a Ricog sg2110 for sublimation printer. made for the job no matter what you try there is no solution (I know i spent many hours trying to solve the problem) with lots of research i realised i should have done more research the first time round. Bought a SG400 by virtuoso from Printer Owners and it is brilliant no banding or other issues.

SG400 is the SG3110 printer with slight firmware change no hardware difference at all. just use decent ink no problem. ALthough the Ricoh seem to struggle with problem heads.
