I've seen Fontmark on ebay too when I was looking at web design, and although they have some good reviews I 2nd Mattie's advice.
Unless you're prepared to stump up serious cash it can be really difficult getting a site built if you want an online designer with it.

After wasting £3000 and 7 months in development I scrapped the site my developer was building and made my own using Wordpress (and I'm no coding pro).
If you use something like Wordpress, Opencart, etc you have a solid platform that's kept up-to-date with all the changes that happen in todays tech world. If you have a Custom site built then you have to pay a developer for those updates every time.

Using a standard platform and ready-made themes and plugins you can get a great site for not a lot of money.

I haven't got a clue how to do my own WordPress site, I will be doing sublimation and embroidery and vinyl. So how much do you think it could cost going the WordPress way?

Well as with anything there is a learning curve but there's no coding involved.

I built my site with theme and all plugins (including product designer) for probably less than £300.

Well I use Wordpress - Which is free.
For my shopping cart I use Woocommerce which is also free.
For my themes, plugins, and online designer I use Envato which is a marketplace for all things web design.

Click on "Themeforest" for themes.
Click on "Codecanyon" for plugins etc.

My online designer is Fancyproductdesigner which has it's own website but is sold through Envato.com ($40 USD).
Theme prices vary but mine was $59 USD.

I use Joomla, and despite the fact that one dimbat tried to do a DOS attack and ran it for 24 hrs, he/She didn't get in nor did they even dent the security!

Just to say that a DDOS attack is not meant to evade security but the opposite, it is meant to cause so much traffic that any security in place has a trouble keeping up (firewalls) and thus the web site becomes unresponsive to everyone else. Our sister company, Online Retailing, comes across regular DDOS attacks on many national clients and it is very difficult to prevent. The only way you can try and stop an attack (which restricts customers buying of course) is to find the originators IP address and block on the firewall. Anyway, just a little clarification. Olly

Yep, I know that as well. But they didn't even slow the site down, because of the blocking programme that I have in place and the server I use.

They got so fed fed up that they then tried to get into the admin section of the site, after the third failed attempt their IP was blocked but they tried another 50,000 times and got nowhere.
