SG3110DN Printer Ink needs replaced and I've only printed about 30 mugs
Re: SG3110DN Printer Ink needs replaced and I've only printed about 30 mugs
I bought a starter kit back in February and since then I've printed about 30-40 mugs, all with just a little text, not huge graphics . I went to print some more today and the cyan cartridge needs replaced and the other three colours are almost empty too. The waste tank is showing as half full too!
The printer has been on the whole time as recommended to stop blockages but surely it can't have used all that ink just priming!
Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks, Mel

Have you been doing head cleans yourself, or just the automatic cleaning? If you haven't been doing manual head cleans, I'd recommend contacting your supplier as I don't think there is any way it should have used so much ink, and it should all be still covered under warranty if there is a problem.

I've just been leaving it to do the automatic cleaning, which I hear do maybe once a week?
I've called the supplier and they are awaiting a call back from Sawgrass. The fact that the waste ink is so full is making me think there might be something wrong with it.

Have you upgraded to most recent firmware - I can't remember which Sawgrass/Ricoh printers did this, but some had a problem using way too much ink the auto-cleaning cycles, and this was fixed in a subsequent firmware update.

Hi there, I've just checked and there is an update available which was released in September but according to the release notes that mainly added Windows 10 support, so I think the auto-cleaning firmware update must have been a while ago.

Grr... not it won't let me update the firmware, keep getting this error message:
I've cleared print queues, uninstalled the OKI printer it is referring to, re-started the printer and laptop and still it won't update. Most annoying!

Turns out it was a chipping error with the cartridges, they only printed 37 pages! So Sawgrass and replacing the set.

thats good to hear then, i wonder if there was a batch of these, given its all the colours ? a bit worrying for anyone who replaced cartridges about the same time

It's very strange isn't it, as they weren't all the same batch number either. I'll be keeping a very close eye on the number of pages this set prints.
What would be a usual number? I print mainly text rather than full photo images so I would think my print usage per print is below average.
