Sky blue suddenly always presses green
Re: Sky blue suddenly always presses green
Using epson 9880 Ive been making sports apparel jerseys for several years now with no issues and suddenly I cannot get a blue to work. Looks blue on transfer paper but comes out tiel after pressing. Made a set of jerseys for a team few weeks ago and it all went fine. This week they needed a spare jersey and the sky blue keeps pressing tiel? Same ink, same paper all the same settings and no luck? I use phototshop. When I do a nozzle check everything is perfect. Tried changing profiles, color managing with no luck. But.....i google sky blue then take that image into photoshop and print it and it presses blue!? I am stumped. If anybody has any ideas feedback would be appreciated.

Have you tried soft-proofing your image in Photoshop with your ICC profile? Should be a few threads on here with how to do it. Perhaps the ICC is doing something funny to that particular shade of blue your using, and you may need to just adjust it a tiny bit.

Re: Sky blue suddenly always presses green
Softproofing should do the trick but printing a blue gradient test strip may also help. I have had weird results from out of gamut colours including a couple of heavy horizontal lines. I also switched between ICC and powerdriver for one particular image which worked as well.
Re: Sky blue suddenly always presses green
Sometimes I've found on our 9600 that there is enough pressure in the system to print a nozzle test pattern fine, but not enough to print a full colour print - so testing some larger test patterns may help see if there is an issue with ink flow.
Double check all your colour management settings, as I've seen Photoshop forget what I've set it as, and it's reverted to defaults.
Also, you haven't mentioned what ink you're using (could they have changed their formula, or has the ink gone out of date, or gone bad for another reason?) You also mentioned that you'd tried changing profiles - from what to what?

I have been using inks and paper from China for several years now. Never had any problems in the past and my quality has been great.
I know I shouldnt rule the ink out but a week ago it printed fine. Its the same ink in the cartridge and I did not add any new ink. Im the production guy I print and have general knowledge of photoshop, I contract my designs out so I have to read up on soft proofing as I dont have a clue what it is. As for assigning profiles and icc's Ive tried them all with no luck. Tiel everytime.
I will try the firmware upgrade. Thank you all for the feedback cant wait to resolve this my work is piling up and Ive even started looking at new printers.

Not point checking existing icc out as they not for your set up(are they? Or they are random ones of of the internet)?. So that is point less.
And only coz you was lucky over that time not means you was doing right job.
Get your settings right and you will never have to worry again. Let me tell you that, also inks can change over time as they do have best before date. I profile my inks twice a year.

Re: Sky blue suddenly always presses green
Im somewhat confused as theres color settings, assign profile, and printer settings icc's. Im not even sure anymore which ones to mess with as Ive tried all sorts of combos. I usually use colormatch rgb and iec619...
Photoshop manages colors and my printer stylus 9880 profile.
Anyway so yesterday in color settings i changed from preserve embedded to adobe rgb and my blues now work.
Then i changed it back and blue worked again.
Is my PS on crack or something but this makes it tuff to run a business. I my have to take a course on PS as now its over my head.
