Brought a bundle kit back in 2012 but never used mug press till last night and its broken tested heat in 6 places at 160°c 2 were fine 2 were around 100°c and 2 were between 50-60°c

Personally I think you are creating more problems by looking for a cheap mug press. They are cheap for a reason and will end up costing you more money. However there are two companies that I know of who sell a budget a mug press. Both companies have an excellent reputation and a superb after sales service.
Listawood sell a Genie mug press (cracking press in my opinion) and as a premium member you will get a 10% discount
The Magic Touch also sell a budget press which is also a cracking machine and as they are based in Dunstable are not that far away from you.
Either one will do the job you require, so its just a case of making a decision.
Not sure if they fit your budget, but it all depends on how many mugs you want to spunk before getting a decent one

Adkins are a very good machine, very reliable and you will get consistently good results.
Depending on what the blanket is like you may have to purchase a new one, but it would be a good choice.
