Hi Michael. I haven't had to use the new Brother with Chip cartridges for Sub yet. Mine are 4 years and thousands of prints old. But I did have to replace one I use Pigment ink in. Still no chip though. This weeke I bought the later model and saw the chips.

I think I would try first, put the refillable sub cartridges in. If the printer will NOT accept them put the original cartridges back in and follow instructions. Then once it is all working and test page printed you should be able to put the refillable cartridges in, then print say 10 pages onto ordinary white printer paper before you try a sublimation setting.

If you are using EPSON compatible Dye Sub ink, and if you do not have an ICC profile yet, try your first sublimation by printing Paul's test mug pattern with standard settings and press that.

Then print another with these printer output settings changed 'Colour Mode: NATURAL' and 'Colour Enhancement: ON' then under that set the colours RED -20 GREEN -20 BLUE -9 and press that one also.

Compare the two and see if you need to fine tune any of those colours.

It will give you a good idea where to start. When you have your ICC profile done, you can set the printer back to normal.

Cheers,

RossD

I did reply to your PM, then I saw this thread later.

The carts you get with the printer are "set up" carts and need to go in the printer first so the machine can set itself up etc. Once this is done you can remove them and fit replacement carts.

Hi Michael,

Your message is coming through more than once. People will see that and probably not answer, so please if you don;t get a reply, just wait. Someone will answer it when they see it - if they know the answer.

For now, here's the link to the mug test pattern. It is very hard to find in search. I tried and it just tells me there are too many words or something, so I dug it out of archives.

The settings I sent that work with my Brother printers using EPSON compatible Dye Sub ink give me almost a perfect matsh EXCEPT for the darkest baby. You will find the setting for yours will be a little different, but I explained what to change. I sent a PM with suggestions about how I do test prints without wasting mugs.

Once you have an ICC profile done you should get even better results. Here's the link to Paul's test pattern. I will PM info on getting an ICC profile made.
