Re: Ceramic Money Boxes

Post by Andysam26467 »

Hi all,

im sure this has been discussed before but after searching the forum I can't find anything.
When i'm printing money boxes I can't get good results. They are coming out a bit pale. I'm not sure if this is down to timings etc but after a lot of discussion with different suppliers I ended up with this.
pre heat the money box in the oven at 100 degrees for 5 minutes (this was to stop the tops cracking). I then apply the paper and a mug wrap and put back in the oven at 190 degrees and start the timer for 420 seconds once temperature has been reached.

i use BMS blanks but find that they taper in a lot on the edges preventing me printing anywhere near the edges. What with this and the pale print I'm pulling my hair out.

how does everyone else print their money boxes. Oven or mug press. Where do you get blanks from and what is the quality of print like.

i can win a lot of business if I can get this right. I have attached a photo. The money box on the left is mine. The one I'm trying to match is on the right. As you can see I'm miles away.

any help much appreciated

Andy

Do mine in a press. Pre warm the base only if image within a few mm. I then press for 180 at 180, turn 180 degrees and press again for full wrap round. Not as easy as mugs due to shape but with practice they come out ok.
